Summary of the Training Programmes on Ground Water use in Major Project
Command areas to achieve optimal utilization in Ground Water regime.
The Command Area Development under GoAP involves in various activities like hydrological and other monitoring activities for effective utilization of the water resources in Srisailam Right Bank Canal (SRBC), Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP), Nagarjuna Sagar Right Canal (NSRC) Command areas in the State .As part of the same, the Ground Water Department has been monitoring for the last 15 years different aspects like Quality and water logging conditions arisen due to release of the command water in to the area .Voluminous data has been systematically collected, analyzed by the Ground Water Department and identified certain types of problems and prepared broad action points to address the same in the field.
It was decided to make the system demand driven, present the above analysis to the field engineers and the farmers of the identified blocks about water quality and water logging resulting in productivity losses.
Trainings were conducted at Circle level for Engineers and Farmers Organizations on the following issues

The rainfall and other related hydrological parameters including soils.

Impact of the activities already taken up

Assessment of the groundwater resources before and after the release of Project water, in consultation with the WUAs and focus on quality affected areas.

Canal releases and problems faced by the farmers in utilizing the groundwater to over come the uncertainty.

Action plans for conjunctive use of surface water with groundwater along with cropping pattern in consultation with farmers.
